The Craftsman’s House, belonging to the Zypliai farm complex, is today ready to reopen its doors and receive guests. On March 3, the first event took place in this building – an exhibition of works by students of the Department of Applied Arts and Scenography of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts for 2020-2021 was opened, presenting the development and changes in folk costumes in Europe.
The craftsman’s house was built in the 20th century. at the beginning for count Tomasz Potocki. It is one of the most beautiful buildings on the farm. It is distinguished from others by expressive red brick and plastered decorative elements. This house was home to the court queens with whom the count always liked to meet. Children were invited to the palace to meet at the Christmas tree during Christmas.
The renovation works of the Craftsmen’s House began in 2015. The exterior renovation of the house took five years. In the years 2020-2022, during the implementation of the project “On the way of culture and crafts – Sakiai – Budry” financed by the European Union, internal renovation and adaptation works were carried out and a bread oven was installed. In the near future, interactive exhibitions will be created in the premises of the Craftsmen’s House, which will allow visitors to learn about the traditional crafts and cultural heritage of the Sudovia region, and four new educational programs will be proposed.
We invite you to visit and admire the completely restored House of Craftsmen!
